JFF Championship top four seek wins
The top four teams in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championship will seek to maintain their positions in the points tables when the competition continues on Wednesday with the ninth round of games.
Leaders Racing United, who are on 22 points, are away to Meadforest FC at Constant Spring, second-placed Tru-Juice FC are also away to St Bess United, Baptist United will host Hopewell United, and Chapleton Maroons visit Grays Inn SC.
Meadforest FC’s three-game unbeaten run will be under serious threat against a rampant Racing United who have scored 25 goals and conceded only four times.
Racing United, who are on course to top the regular season tables for the second year, are coming off a big 5-0 trouncing of Petersfield FC on Saturday. Meadforest FC have won their last two games, both by 1-0 margins, and while they will be hoping to extend their winning run, the odds are stacked against them.
Tru-Juice FC bounced back to winning ways on Saturday after losing back-to-back games and will be hoping to start another winning streak when they take on a St Bess United team that has risen to seventh place after earning eight of their 13 points from their last four games, from two wins and two draws.
St Bess United have only conceded two goals over their last four games and will hope to use home field advantage over Tru-Juice today.
Baptist Alliance are hoping to avenge last season’s 1-0 loss to Hopewell United when they host the Hanover team.
Baptist Alliance have won four of their last five games to move up to third place in the tables and faces a Hopewell United team that lost back-to-back games after upsetting Tru-Juice.
Chapleton Maroons will be hoping to get back to the semi-finals after their good run two years ago though failing to sparkle in the Jamaica Premier League. They have picked up after a slow start and have won two and drawn the other in their last three games.
Brown’s Town FC and Reno FC will be hoping for wins today if they are to stay close to the leaders; Brown’s Town are away to last-placed Falmouth United at Elleston Wakeland Centre, while Reno FC hosts, Portlanders FC at Llandilo.
