Former NCB employee pleads guilty to $75.4m fraud
ST ANN, Jamaica — Former National Commercial Bank (NCB) employee Khadene Thomas pleaded guilty to fleecing three of the institution’s customers of millions when she appeared in the St Ann Parish Court on Wednesday.
She admitted to three counts of larceny as a servant and 31 counts of uttering forged documents.
Thomas was charged with larceny and offences under the cybercrime act in January, 2023.
In court, it was revealed that during a two-year stint with NCB’s wealth advisor department, she forged clients’ signatures on a debit instrument then debited their accounts and transferred funds to several accounts, including hers.
Thomas is said to have stolen US$407,472.47 along with JMD$10,159,310.04, totalling a sum of JMD$74.5 million.
On Wednesday, attorney Matthew Hyatt, who is representing Thomas, asked that the judge grant her eight months to make restitution — considering the amount of funds that was taken.
The judge, however, advised that Thomas should make an effort to be in a position to return the funds when she returns to court for sentencing on June 12.
