Cornwall, Glenmuir win in ISSA/Grace Headley Cup cricket
Cornwall College and Glenmuir High were winners in the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Grace Headley Cup rural area cricket competition, last week, while Clarendon College and Garvey Maceo High played to a draw.
The scheduled contest between Vere Technical and May Day High was rained out.
At Cornwall College, the home team beat Herbert Morrison Technical by 10 wickets. Cornwall’s spinner Amani Ainsley took five wickets for 31 runs as Herbert Morrison were dismissed for 136 with Nathan Tate top scoring with 57.
Opener Damani Daley (75) and Ainsley (37) then carried Cornwall to 137 without loss.
At Sir P Oval on February 15, Glenmuir High beat Denbigh High by 149 runs. Alex Henry, who made 78, and Krishmar Sawyers (54) led the way as Glenmuir declared at 231 for five. Denbigh High then folded for 82 with Hajuani Ragoo taking four wickets for 32.
At Sir P Oval on February 16, Clarendon College and Garvey Maceo High played to a draw. Clarendon made 178 all out with lead contributions from Jovannie Palmer (73), Kavel Bailey (37) and Kenardo Cameron (36). Off spinner Danjay Dillon, with six wickets for 64 runs, led the bowling for Garvey Maceo.
Garvey Maceo High then battled to 100 for six wickets against Clarendon College’s fast bowler Dijuani West (3-19), and leg spinner Danjay Larmond (2-13) when stumps were drawn.
