Mamosa Cooler Fête gets high marks
Intermittent rain throughout the night did little to dampen the party vibes of the hundreds of patrons who attended the party series Mamosa Cooler Fête: Soca vs Dancehall Edition held at Gee Wee Car Park on February 4.
Patrons were determined to enjoy themselves. Some sought shelter under nearby trees and at the nearby M10 Bar & Grill Restaurant, while others chose to stay in their vehicles until the rain eased up. As soon as the sky cleared, patrons slowly began making their way into the event.
Disc jockeys Banka, Chrome, Unknown, Fyahman, and Della Soul blazed some of the hottest dancehall, reggae, R&B, and soca mixes, which had patrons dancing up a storm.
Co-promoter of the event, Jaja Francis, said the party series lived up to their expectations.
“The turnout was great despite the consistent rain. We had a diverse crowd with people from Kingston and St Thomas. Others travelled as far as Clarendon, St Mary, and even St Elizabeth to attend our event,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Francis explained that the theme of the event was strategically planned and executed.
“We introduced soca music to the event because we observed that our female patrons love soca music and it brings them great joy. We wanted to provide them with an environment where they don’t have to constantly worry about their appearance and can forget about posting on social media, at least for a while. To accomplish this goal we gave the ladies a musical selection and environment that was irresistible and impressive,” Francis said.
He shared appreciation for the loyalty patrons have shown.
“My highlight of the event was to see that patrons stood out and waited until the event to begin despite the weather. This was the second time we were hosting an event and it rained and people again went into their vehicles to wait and came out when the sky cleared to party and enjoy themselves. That really showed that the people love and have high respect for the brand. I really appreciate the loyalty they express for not only this staging but over the years the event has being held,” he said.
The next staging of Mamosa will be June 1. It will be themed the Street Dance Edition.
