Granville into Sandals Major League semi-finals
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Granville United booked a spot in the semi-finals of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League, after beating Green Pond SC 2-0 in the Zone A return game at Green Pond High School on Saturday.
Granville, semi-finalists last season, improved to 14 points to secure their place with a game in hand. Zone winners Flanker United have 18 points.
Three teams, including defending champions and Zone B winners Reggae Youths, have secured places in the semi-finals set to be contested between March 3 and 8. The final is set for the following week.
Granville United scored late in either half on Saturday. Ajani Clarke gave them the lead in time added in the first half, while Kenroy Gayle scored in the 90th minute to secure all the points.
In another game on Saturday, Irwin United FC and Montego Bay Boys Club played out a 0-0 result at Irwin High.
