$109-m raised for charity
THOUSANDS of Jamaicans turned out for the annual Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run yesterday, which surpassed its target to rake in $109 million for three beneficiaries — National Chest Hospital, the Danny Williams School for the Deaf, and the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital.
Now in its 26th year, the charity road race has now raised more than $750 million for numerous beneficiaries, with a focus on health, child-related, and educational initiatives. This year’s race also saw a record number of 27,349 participants that registered to run, walk, or wheel, a major growth compared to last year’s number of a little over 21,000 participants.
The event is the largest road race in the Caribbean. Here are some highlights from our photo team.
