Todd, Harris win Class One 100m titles at Western Champs
ST Elizabeth Technical High School’s (STETHS) Tramaine Todd and Habiba Harris won the Class One Boys’ and Girls’ 100m titles, respectively, on the second day of the COCAA/GraceKennedy Western Championships, held at the STETHS Complex in Santa Cruz on Saturday.
Todd ran 10.91 seconds to take the gold medal, beating Munro College’s 200m champion Romario Hines (11.04s), with Cornwall College’s Zachary Cox, who won the silver in the 200m, taking the bronze in 11.09s.
Herbert Morrison’s DeAndre Daley, who was expected to win, finished fourth and ended the championships without an individual medal as he failed to qualify for the 200m final on Thursday’s first day, held at Cornwall College.
Harris, who won gold in the Class One Girls’ 100m hurdles earlier on Saturday, clocked 11.85s to beat Petersfield High’s Fadine Abbott (12.45s), with Shanise Ellis of STETHS taking third in 12.59s.
ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships gold medallist Tavaine Stewart of Herbert Morrison Technical won the Class Two Boys’ 100m in 11.04s, beating 200m champion Johan Ramaldo Smythe of Muschett High (11.06s), and Cornwall College’s Thomas Daley, who was third in 11.10s.
Mark Braham of Rusea’s High won the Class Three Boys’ 100m in 11.43s, ahead of the STETHS pair of Jamanie Hylton (11.53s) and Ajannie Kelly (11.69s).
Cornwall College’s Marques Reid took the Class Four Boys’ gold medal with 12.07s, beating Davaughney Jones of Rusea’s (12.32s), and Joshua Noble of Belmont Academy (12.48s).
Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia High completed the Class Two Girls’ sprint double, winning the 100m in 11.85 seconds. Tana-Shae Gooden of Muschett High was second in 12.51s, and Rihanna Allen of STETHS was third in 12.55s.
The Class Three Girls’ gold medal went to Ronique Stewart of Rusea’s who ran 12.72s, followed by Sakoi Robinson of Maggotty High (12.93s), and Sashane Godfrey of Petersfield High (12.98s).
Veneisha Pottinger led a Mt Alvernia High one-two in the Class Four Girls’ section, winning in 12.96s, ahead of teammate Zwange Edwards (13.19s) and with Kerian Jarrett of Maggotty High third in (13.24s).
