Baptist Alliance and Brown’s Town clash in JFF Championship
Brown’s Town FC and Baptist Alliance, contenders for a semi-final spot in the Jamaica Football Federation Championship, will meet at Drax Hall today as they seek to solidify their places in the points tables.
Baptist Alliance are in third place in the tables on 13 points, one more than Brown’s Town FC while Chapleton Maroons and Reno FC, both tied on 11 points, will meet at Turners Field.
Leaders Racing United will be at home to Petersfield FC at Prison Oval while second-placed Tru-Juice FC takes on former winners Faulkland FC at Tru-Juice Complex.
Baptist Alliance are enjoying their best season in the competition that was called the Tier II league in its first two stagings, have won three of their last four games and will hope to avenge last season’s 2-0 loss to Browns Town at he same venue.
Brown’s Town have lost two of their last three games, have scored just seven goals in their seven games and will face a Baptist Alliance team that has conceded nine times so far, the most by any team in the top half of the competition.
If there is a winner in the game between Chapleton Maroons and Reno FC, they could move into the top four for the first time, regardless of who wins the game at Drax Hall.
Reno FC are unbeaten in their last three games, scoring five of their 10 goals played and is ahead of Chapleton only on goal-difference while Chapleton have won their last two and have scored six of their 10 goals at home.
Racing United are the only unbeaten team left in the competition and will hope to maintain that today against Petersfield FC who are coming off a big 4-0 win over Hopewell United last weekend.
Racing United have lost once in 20 first-round games, dating back to last season and have dominated the competition once again, scoring 20 goals, 12 of which have come from four players – Javaughn Cole, Rajneil Brown, Deandre Johnson and Leon Silvera.
Tru-Juice FC and Faulkland FC had played out a 3-3 draw the last time the teams met and based on form, the home team should have the edge today against the St James team that is sitting in 11th place and have scored a mere six goals.
