St Catherine man charged for double murder
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Detectives from the Major Investigation Division (MID) have arrested and charged a man following a double murder at a pub on Main Road, Gregory Park, St Catherine, on November 11, 2023.
He is 43-year-old Maitland Reckford, otherwise called ‘Shouka’, ‘Penny’ and ‘Kit’, of Trainline premises, Gregory Park. Reckford was arrested at his residence on Tuesday, February 6.
The incident resulted in four people being shot, two fatally. The deceased were identified as Cedric Crooks otherwise called ‘Gungo’, of Main Road, Gregory Park, and Richard Manley otherwise called ‘Bada Bada’, of Altair Avenue, Christian Meadows, Gregory Park,
Reckford faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, wounding with three counts of intent, shooting with intent, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Reckford was reportedly pointed out during an identification parade and subsequently charged on Thursday, in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
