‘Shadow’ Lewis building awareness
Producer and co-founder of East Kings Records Matthew “Shadow” Lewis says his latest production — Infatuation Ship by emerging dancehall artiste Tatik — has given the label a boost.
“Since the release of the new single it has given the label another push in getting into the public eyes [and] building awareness of the sound we’re endorsing into the culture,” Lewis told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
Infatuation Ship was released on January 26.
Lewis, who hails from Mountain View in St Andrew, has been producing professionally for over a year.
The label has also produced Prayer and Fasting by Bugle and Imeru and Kindness For Weakness by Zagga.
Lewis noted that music has always been a genuine interest.
“The peace music gives by just singing, listening [sparked my curiosity], and then just seeing my family learning to play instruments… our music has no limits,” he said.
Asked about collabs in the future, Lewis answers: “Our small island is full of authentic talent and our versatility and our sound strikes different. Every time we approach the artistes our music speaks to us who directly would like hearing to complement the sound. Always expect the unexpected with our releases.”
