Mt Pleasant rally to beat Harbour View in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Champions Mt Pleasant FA came back from an early goal down to beat Harbour View 2-1 in their Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League second round game played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday.
With their 12th win of the season, Mt Pleasant FA who had beaten Harbour View 2-0 in the first round, moved to second place on 39 points, one point behind leaders Cavalier SC and two more than third placed Tivoli Gardens.
In the first game of the double- header, Waterhouse FC moved back into the top six with a 1-0 win over Vere United who they had beaten 4-1 in the first round.
Demar Rose gave Harbour View the lead after just three minutes when he smashed a ball past Mt Pleasant FA’s goalkeeper Shaquan Davis from close range.
Devonte Campbell, who recently returned from a training stint with English Championship team Charlton Athletics, pulled the St Ann team back level when he finished from close range, firing past Glenroy Samuel in the Harbour View goal in the 25th minute.
Shaquiel Bradford who started the season with Harbour View and scored eight goals for the east Kingston team before transferring to Mt Pleasant in the January window, scored the winner in the 37th minute when he converted from the penalty spot.
In the first game, Revaldo Mitchell’s 25th minute goal saw Waterhouse FC rebound from their loss to Cavalier SC in the previous round and improved to 26 points, two more than Dunbeholden for the final play-off spot.
