Bushman offers up the feel-good Whyne Dung
Whyne Dung, a feel-good song Bushman says sums up his approach to life, was released on January 19 by the roots singer’s Burning Bushes Music label.
The 51 year-old artiste is best known songs such as Grow Your Natty, Call the Hearse and Downtown, wrote and produced Whyne Dung.
Whyne Dung is expected to be part of his new album, tentatively scheduled for release this summer.
“The inspiration to write Whyne Dung came from a typical day in my life, just interacting with people and observing how they live; the things they take for granted and the things they cherish. Sometimes I just observe people and wonder if they realise that their time a Whyne Dung and they need to make the most of opportunity when it comes,” he said.
Bushman has not released an album since
Your Life, which came out in 2021.
His first album, 1997’s
Nyahman Chant, was produced by Steely and Clevie.
With new music in the works, the St Thomas-born Bushman is eyeing a return to touring, especially in Europe and the United States West Coast. While he did spot dates in the Caribbean and South Florida last year, he has not done any extensive roadwork since the COVID-19 lockdowns started in 2020.
There is a new facet to his promotional team. Burning Bushes Music recently sealed an arrangement with My MM Productions, a South Florida-based company, to help market his songs, an agreement that starts with
Whyne Dung.
Jamaican Orville Marshall is the head of My MM Productions, which has done well in the past two years producing songs by Luciano, Wayne Armond, J C Lodge, and The Greaves Brothers.
