Sanchez releases new music
Singer set to perform at pre-Valentine’s Day show
With one of the most impressive catalogues in the annals of lovers rock reggae, Sanchez remains a popular live show attraction after almost 40 years. He also continues to churn out songs, still hungry for that hit single.
His latest release is The Best in Me, a song written and produced by Hopeton Lindo for Irie Pen Records. It is one of six tracks on the Favorite ‘riddim’, done by the Heavybeat Crew.
The Best in Me renews Sanchez’ link with Lindo who wrote You Make my Day for him in 2004.
Known for songs like Loneliness, One in A Million You, I Can’t Wait, Never Dis di Man and Pretty Girl, Sanchez recently shared his formula for spotting hit singles with the Observer.
“As long as it’s groovy, words that have a lot of meaning that a majority (of people) can relate to,” he said.
On Sunday (February 11), he performs on Love in The Gardens, a show at Hope Gardens in St Andrew featuring American soul singer Freddie Jackson, Alaine and Remone Watson.
Sanchez, who was one of the featured acts on Rebel Salute in January, is looking forward to the pre-Valentine’s Day show.
“Valentine’s Day is very special ‘cause I’m always booked a year in advance and it’s that special time of year true lovers look forward to,” he said.
Hopeton Lindo also contributes Favorite Girl to the Favorite rhythm EP. Peter G does Not Taking No, while Novel –T’s song is I Love The Way; Anthony Malvo does I Can’t and INique’s song is Happy.
