Man charged following firearm seizure in Cassia Park
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 31-year-old man has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The incident reportedly occurred along Cassia Park Road in Kingston 10 on Friday.
He is Kemar Henry of Red Hills Road in Kingston 19.
Reports from the Half-Way-Tree Police are that about 12:50 am, a team was on patrol in the area when officers observed a group of men standing along the roadway. On seeing the lawmen, two men ran from the group, including Henry who subsequently fell to the ground. He was accosted, searched, and a Sarsilmaz SP9 9mm pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm cartridges was allegedly retrieved from his waistband.
He was arrested and charged.
His court date is being arranged.
