Two charged after $2m in goods stolen from St Mary shop
ST MARY, Jamaica – Two men have been charged with shop breaking, larceny and receiving stolen property after goods valuing over $2 million were reportedly stolen from a business in Highgate, St Mary between Sunday and Monday.
They are 57-year-old Rupert Abou, otherwise called ‘Indian, a security guard of Cole Lane in Spanish Town, St Catherine and 32-year-old lumber-jack operator Jerome Abou, of Newport district, Richmond in St Mary.
Reports from the Highgate Police are that a man securely locked his business establishment and left. He returned the following morning and discovered that the place had been broken into and several items including power saws and a tool pan were stolen.
A report was made to the police and, following an investigation, both men were taken into custody and charges laid.
They are scheduled to appear in the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, April 4.
