Racing United and Tru-Juice clash in JFF Championships
Leaders Racing United and Tru-Juice FC, fresh off dropping points for the first time in the competition, will clash at the Spanish Town Prison Oval in their Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championships first-round game on Saturday at 3 pm.
After both won their first five games to start the season, Racing United were held to a 1-1 draw by Portlanders FC last week while Tru-Juice FC were ambushed 1-0 at Orchard Sports Complex by Hopewell United.
Both will be seeking to get back to winning ways immediately, setting up what promises to be a close and exciting encounter between the teams with the best records in the competition.
There is very little between the teams with Racing United holding a slim one-point lead, with 16 points, scoring a league-high 17 goals and conceding just three while Tru-Juice FC are on 15 points, scored 13 goals and conceded four.
Tru-Juice FC won last season’s game 2-1 and will hope to extend their winning run over their fellow St Catherine club and will hope Seivon Thompson, Colicke Richards and Dayshani Russell can add to their goals tally and lead them to a win that would see them take over the lead.
Racing United’s Javaughn Cole leads the scoring race with six goals scored and is expected to lead the attack along with Rajneil Brown, Deandre Johnson and Leon Silvera who all combine for another six goals.
Third-placed Brown’s Town are poised to move up in the tables depending on the outcome of the Racing United vs Tru-Juice game and are away to last-placed Meadforest FC, the only team yet to win a game and should be able to get a positive result.
Brown’s Town have won four of their last five games and are on a roll and faces a Meadforest team that have allowed 11 goals so far and will be seeking to avenge last season’s loss to the KSAFA team.
Chapleton Maroons, who are tied on 10 points with Baptist Alliance, will travel to face St Bess United who have won once in their last six outings.
Baptist Alliance will be seeking their first win over a struggling Falmouth United who have beaten them 1-0 and 3-1 in the last two years, respectively, but have failed to get any consistency this season so far.
