Blaize Shell Shell has Got This
Emerging dancehall artiste Blaize Shell Shell is addressing one of the most popular themes in the genre nowadays with the track Got This.
“This track is an uncompromising dancehall anthem that questions the ‘trap choppa’ music, artistes and trends, and whether the quick fame and money is worth the message our youth are taking from it,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Got This was officially released on January 26.
The track was produced by Pantason Records, while Trailblazing Entertainment — spearheaded by Ron Young — produced the music video.
The entertainer, whose given name is Andrew Folkes, grew up between Rhymesbury in Clarendon and Mountain View in St Andrew.
“I was born with music in my soul. My family put me on the dining table at four years old and I would deejay Beenie Man songs. My lyrical flow and songwriting ability [are] innate,” Blaize Shell Shell explained.
He noted that he has met with tons of endorsement for his debut project.
“The support has been overwhelming and positive; not only from fans but from radio disc jockeys and legends in the industry, like Sean Paul and Masicka, who have supported the message and lyrical flow,” he said.
Blaize Shell Shell also authored his first book, The Power of Pain, that was published in June 2021 where he shared his personal anecdotes of resilience.
His sophomore book, titled Broken To Be Restored, will be published on March 27 to coincide with the release of his first EP, Dancehall Untrapped.
The six-track EP will also tackle the “darkness and negativity in dancehall” the artiste said.
