Jamaica Debates Commission to host local government election debates
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Jamaica Debates Commission is to host two political debates in the lead up to the February 26 local government election.
The first debate will be held on Thursday, February 15, and will focus on local government policy and how it impacts Jamaicans.
The second debate, on Saturday, February 17, will look at the local government at work.
Each debate will have a journalist as moderator, with two journalists posing questions and a social media journalist.
The debates will be followed by a poll which will look at the impact of the debates and not who won or lost.
The Debates Commission has budgeted $24 million to host the debates and the surrounding activities, including the post-debate polling
