WATCH: Mocho will be flipped, says PNP’s Morris
CLARENDON, Jamaica – The incumbent candidate for the Mocho division in Clarendon, the People’s National Party’s (PNP) Romaine Morris is promising that the division will be “flipped” to the PNP in the upcoming Local Government election.
Morris, who won the seat on a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) ticket in 2016, crossed the floor to the PNP in January following a fallout with the Member of Parliament Robert Nesta Morgan.
On Thursday, during Nomination Day proceedings, he expressed confidence that he will be reelected come February 26.
“I am feeling very excited, democracy at its best. Mocho will be flipped in the next Local Government Election. The voice of the people will be heard,” he told Observer Online while surrounded by jubilant orange clad supporters.
Morris won the division by almost 400 votes in 2016 and the PNP leadership in Clarendon has expressed confidence that he will take the majority of those votes with him to win the seat for the party this time around.
