WATCH: Carnival atmosphere in Manchester Central for Nomination Day
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – It was a carnival atmosphere in Manchester Central for local government nomination proceedings Thursday, with jubilant supporters from both the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and People’s National Party (PNP) turning out in their numbers.
The JLP supporters were led by Member of Parliament Rhoda Crawford, who arrived along with the party’s four councillor candidates at the Mandeville Family Court in open-top SUVs with dancehall music blaring from the speakers.
Charmain Stephenson (Mandeville Division), Richard Delapenha (Royal Flat Division), Adeka Miller (Knockpatrick Division), and Shaneil Dixon (Bellefield Division) are the representatives for the JLP in the constituency.
Meanwhile, a crew of bikers was among the PNP supporters who joined the party’s four councillor candidates in arriving at the Mandeville Family Court for the nomination exercise.
The PNP is being represented by Jones Oliphant (Mandeville Division), Donovan Mitchell (Royal Flat Division), Karl Smith (Knockpatrick Division) and Mario Mitchell (Bellefield Division).
