Valiant wins MOBO for Best Caribbean Music Act
Dancehall artiste Valiant is the winner of the MOBO Award (Music of Black Origin) in the category Best Caribbean Music Act.
The announcement was made a short while ago via the MOBO Awards’ X account (formerly Twitter).
The 26th staging of the event is scheduled to take place tonight at the Sheffield’s Utilita Arena in London.
Jamaican-born dancehall act Byron Messia, who was nominated in the Best Caribbean Music Act category with Valiant, is scheduled to perform at the awards.
Soca star Destra, Grammy winner Kabaka Pyramid, Popcaan and Shenseea were the other Best Caribbean Music Act nominees.
Valiant commented on the MOBO win on his Instagram page:
“One year and God has been so good to me. The journey has not been easy. Dancehall is no game but my faith and strong mind carried me all this way. I just want to thank all my true fans and supporters who believed in me. I can’t big up everybody, but Jah know, words can’t explain how me member them use to say me naah reach far but all me can say is believe ina yourself. Every ghetto (yute) can be great. Big up all the nominees,” the post read.
