Spice goes platinum in Canada with Go Down Deh
Go Down Deh, the 2021 hit single by Spice, featuring Shaggy and Sean Paul, has been certified platinum in Canada for sales and streaming equivalent exceeding 80,000 units.
The certification was announced Tuesday by Music Canada.
Go Down Deh was the lead single from Spice’s debut album ‘10’, which was released by VP Records. The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
To promote Go Down Deh, Spice, Shaggy and Sean Paul made several prime-time television appearances in the United States, including The Wendy Williams Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Go Down Deh was produced by Shaggy and Romanian singer Costi.
This is the first Canada certification for Spice. Shaggy has one Canada-certified platinum hit – Hey Sexy Lady from 2002.
Sean Paul has the most Music Canada platinum-certified hits for a Jamaican. All of nine. They include Temperature (3x platinum), She Doesn’t Mind (2011), No Lie featuring Dua Lipa (2016), and Mad Love featuring David Guetta and Becky G (2017).
