Excellent presentation by Senator Fitz-Henley
Dear Editor,
I want to commend Senator Abka Fitz-Henley for delivering one of the best rebuttals I’ve heard in the Jamaican Parliament for a long time when he closed the State of the Nation Debate recently.
Whether he was speaking on criticisms made by Opposition contributors to the debate of the Government’s management of subject areas, including security, the economy, labour, tourism, or health, Fitz-Henley demonstrated a grasp of the issues and delivered what appeared to me to be credible responses.
He was also able to deliver what amounted to verbal knockout punches concerning what he noted are false narratives being advanced by some stakeholders, including the Opposition.
Senator Fitz-Henley’s awareness of history, both local and global, and his ability to spur a sense of hope about the future of our beloved island was also worthy of note.
Having listened to him for over a decade on the airwaves, I was recently surprised to read that Fitz-Henley is only 35 years old. Prime Minister Holness clearly made an inspired choice in appointing Fitz-Henley to the Upper House.
I’d like to urge the young man to remain grounded and focused on serving his country.
