Julian Marley and Alexx Antaeus react to ‘Colors of Royal’ Grammy win
Julian Marley is expressing gratitude after his Colors of Royal album with Alexx Antaeus won the Best Reggae Album category at the 66th Grammy Awards on Sunday.
It was the third nomination for Julian Marley, having secured nods in 2010 for Awake and in 2020 for As I Am.
“Thank you from the depts of my heart for the incredible honor of receiving a Grammy. This recognition is a testament to the love and support of my fans, and I am forever grateful. Together, we continue to spread the positive vibrations through music. One Love,” Marley said in a statement.
Released in March 2023, Colors of Royal was produced by Alexx Antaeus.
In a statement sent to Observer Online, Antaeus said, “Honoured to have produced Colors of Royal. We created a new chapter in reggae music and we were rewarded with this Grammy. Thankful that the people of Jamaica have accepted me as their own. Out of Many One.”
Meanwhile, recording artiste and songwriter Vision Alexander, who has songwriting credits on six of the tracks on Colors of Royal, was in an upbeat mood when Observer Online caught up with him moments after the winner was unveiled.
“It feels unreal, still can’t believe it. God is good. Thank you to Julian and the entire team for believing in my songwriting ability,” Vision Alexander said while inside the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California where the Grammy Awards took place.
This was Alexander’s second time receiving a nomination. He co-wrote several songs on Jesse Royal’s Grammy nominated album Royal in 2022.
“Colors of Royal was really a special body of work to be a part of. It took a real team effort to get the job done. But together we brought home the win,” Vision Alexander reasoned.
He also shared a highlight of working on the project.
“The highlight for me was getting the opportunity to work and learn alongside a musical legend such as Julian Marley,” Vision Alexander stated.
