Hanover man charged for 2023 murder in St James
HANOVER, Jamaica – A 34-year-old man has been slapped with several charges following the bold daylight killing of a man on Mark Street in Montego Bay, St James last December.
Charged with murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a firearm to commit a felony is Oraine Anderson, otherwise called ‘Proper’, a chef of Bamboo District in Hopewell, Hanover.
Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that about 11:48 am on December 5, the victim, Wesley Reid, was walking along the roadway with a female relative. They were reportedly approached by an armed man who opened gunfire hitting them.
The police were summoned and the injured people taken to hospital, where Reid was pronounced dead.
The woman was treated and released.
Law enforcers say intense investigations subsequently led to Anderson turning himself in with his attorney on Wednesday, January 31.
His court date is being arranged.
