Feb 26 local government election
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Jamaicans will go to the polls on February 26 to vote for their local government representatives.
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Desmond McKenzie made the announcement a short while ago at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James. The announcement has been long-awaited as the vote was postposed three times since the last election in 2016.
McKenzie made the announcement at a national meeting of all JLP constituency chairpersons, members of parliament, councilors, councilor candidates and party officers, ending weeks of speculation.
Nomination day will be February 8.
