Constable battling for life after being mowed down in St Ann, motorist in custody
A police constable is fighting for his life in the hospital after reportedly being struck by a motorist while on duty on the Edward Seaga Highway on Thursday.
Police report that the constable is assigned to the Highway Safety and Patrol Division of the Constabulary.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of Unity Valley sometime after midnight.
It is reported that the cop signalled a motorist to stop and was mowed down in the process.
He was rushed to hospital and admitted for treatment.
Observer Online understands that the constable is currently in an unconscious state.
Police have confirmed that the motorist is in custody.
The Jamaican Police Federation says arrangements are being made to transfer the lawman to a medical facility in Kingston.
