Call centre worker freed of cocaine charges
ST ANDREW, Jamaica – A 24-year-old call centre worker was on Thursday freed of cocaine charges when he appeared before Senior Parish Court Judge Paula Blake-Powell in the Corporate Area Parish Court in Half Way Tree, St Andrew.
He is Teddecia Caine.
The prosecution led evidence that in December 2020, Caine attempted to ship items through FedEx. It was reportedly later discovered by FedEx agents that parcels of cocaine were hidden in the lining of the packages that were to be shipped.
An investigation was launched resulting in Caine being arrested and charged in April 2021.
During the questioning of the FedEx agent by Caine’s attorney, Richard Lynch, it was shown that the items being shipped passed through the hands of several individuals without any witness being able to account for its movement.
It was on that basis the prosecution decided that it could not go any further with the case against Caine. Caine was subsequently freed of possession, dealing and attempting to export cocaine charges.
