Robbery suspects held with imitation firearm
Two men, robbery suspects, are in custody following the seizure of an imitation firearm on Molynes Road, Kingston 10, on Monday, January 29.
The Half-Way-Tree police reported that the men attempted to rob a man on Molynes Road, however the man ran and reported the matter to a police team. The team went in pursuit of the alleged robbers, and two men fitting their description were seen in the vicinity of the Spanish Town bus stop.
They were accosted and searched when the imitation weapon was allegedly taken from one of them. They were taken into custody pending further investigations.
Farm Heights man on gun rap
The Montego Bay police have charged 37-year-old Rayon Ramsay, otherwise called Odaine and Crazy, of Farm Heights, St James, following the seizure of a firearm he allegedly had in his possession on Thursday, January 25.
Police said about 7:30 pm, officers were on patrol when they saw a white Nissan AD wagon motor car, without registration plates affixed, being driven by Ramsay. He was signalled to stop, to which he complied. He was searched and a Taurus G3 pistol with an empty magazine was allegedly taken from his waistband. The vehicle was searched and another empty magazine found, the police reported.
Ramsay was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon following an interview on Monday.
His court date is being arranged.
Man drops bag with weapon after seeing cops
Detectives assigned to the Westmoreland Proactive Investigations Unit (PIU) seized a Taurus revolver in Geneva District, Grange Hill, Westmoreland, on Monday.
The Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) reported that about 5:00 pm the team was travelling in a canefield when they saw a man walking hurriedly with a black plastic bag in his hand. Upon seeing the police the man dropped the bag and ran, eluding the lawmen. The bag was retrieved, searched, and the weapon found.
One man arrested, another turns himself in to police for Little London murder
In a swift investigation into a murder that occurred on Thursday, January 18, the Westmoreland police arrested and charged one of the suspects.
The suspect, 18-year-old Wade Dennis, otherwise called Shabdon, of Top Road, Little London, in the parish, was Monday charged with the murder of 19-year-old Enrico Chambers in Johnson Bush, Top Road, Little London, Westmoreland.
Chambers, a farmer of Broughton District, was sitting in a relative’s yard when an altercation erupted between him and two other men, including Dennis, who threatened him before leaving.
Police said Dennis later returned with an accomplice and both, armed with machetes, allegedly inflicted several chop wounds to Chambers, who was pronounced dead at hospital.
The police, acting promptly on information, located and apprehended Dennis in Top Road in Little London. He was subsequently charged. On Monday, January 28 his co-accused, who is not yet charged, turned himself in to the police.
