Former Panama striker Luis ‘Matador’ Tejada is dead. He was 41.
The Panamanian Football Federation (FEPAFUT) made the disclosure on Sunday, CNN Sport reported.
It added that news outlets in Panama said that Tejada collapsed while playing in a local recreational league.
According to CNN Sport, Tejada was Panama’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 43 international goals. He also helped the national team to qualify for its first World Cup in 2018.
“We express our sincerest condolences to his relatives, friends and the whole football family and Panamanian sport in general. We will never forget you Matador!” FEPAFUT said in a statement obtained by CNN Sport.
