Busta Rhymes confirmed for Sashi 2024
Rapper Busta Rhymes has been confirmed as a headliner at this year’s Sashi, as the high octane event is set to return to Ocho Rios, St Ann, from May 23-26, 2024.
“Twenty-two years since my last Sashi performance, big up to the boss man Romie, come ya fi kill the whole ah oonu, mek sure oonu know that. We are getting ready to embark on the fact that Sashi 2.0 is getting ready to happen in May, my birthday month, May 20 is my birthday, and while celebrating, I will be performing at Sashi 2.0 22 years later. Jamaica, I am coming, May 25th, Plantation Cove, Ocho Rios, mi soon see the whole ah oonu, stay tuned!” Busta Rhyme said in a video circulating on social media.
Sashi is returning 22 years after its last staging at the James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St Mary.
In 2002, Sashi featured superstars like Usher, P Diddy, Eve, Busta Rhymes, Donell Jones, Tyrese, Snoop Dogg, Lil’ Kim, Ginuwine, Wyclef Jean, Super Cat, Shabba Ranks, Bling Dawg, T.O.K and Dawn Penn.
Though an artiste line-up is yet to be announced for 2024, organisers had promised “a sizzling line-up that will include more than a dozen top R&B, Hip Hop, Afrobeat and reggae superstars.”
Sashi made its debut in 1999, but was last staged in 2002. At the height of its popularity, the event attracted more than 15,000 patrons, according to a report in Billboard magazine in 2001.
