Man tells judge injection makes him move like robot
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A man, who was ordered to undergo a mental health assessment after allegedly stabbing another, claimed in court on Wednesday that doctors gave him an injection that caused him to move like a robot.
Enoch Green appeared in the St James Parish Court before presiding Judge Sasha-Marie Smith-Ashley charged with unlawful wounding.
According to court records, on December 31 of last year, the complainant was in the process of preparing food for his cart on St James Street when Green approached him and stabbed him in the neck and chest.
“Are you receiving any sort of treatment, do you have any sort of illness for which you need treatment?” the judge enquired of the accused following the reading of the allegations.
“Yes, Your Honour,” Green replied.
He proceeded to inform the judge that he was receiving treatment at both the Cornwall Regional Hospital and the Granville Health Centre.
“Have you had any access to your medication since you have been in custody?” the judge enquired.
“I got an injection, but I don’t like it because it makes me move like a robot…the pills are fine but I don’t have any,” Green said.
The judge then directed that preparations be made for him to have a follow-up check with his doctor to discuss the possibility of adjusting his prescription, as well as a psychiatric evaluation to determine his fitness to participate in a trial process.
Smith-Ashley also requested that Green be provided with legal representation.
Green was remanded in custody until March 21.
