Granville avenge loss to Heights FC in Sandals Major League
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Antwon Gooden scored the winning goal as former champions Granville United avenged their first round loss to Heights FC, winning 3-2 in their Zone A game in the Sandals Major League at the UDC field on Thursday.
Heights FC, who had won the first round game 2-1, had rallied in the second round from two goals down to level the scores at 2-2 before Gooden scored his first goal of the season to break the tie and take Granville United to the top of the points table in Zone A.
Granville United improved to 10 points, passing Flanker United who are on eight points while Heights FC are in third place on seven points.
Romaine Lewis scored in the 26th minute and Renaldo Clarke in the 37th minute to give Granville United a good start.
Heights FC pulled level with two penalties, Jevar Maxwell converting in the 64th minute for his league leading fifth goal while Michael Thompson scored a second in the 81st minute, his third goal of the season.
Gooden however scored the winner in the 84th minute as Granville United grabbed all three points.
