Vision is critical for any business, Williams says
WHEN Nayana Williams, founder of Lifespan Spring Water company embarked on a journey to create an alkaline spring water from Jamaica for Jamaicans and the world, she had a vision. The journey has been a tumultuous but rewarding one, with the company now boasting many employees, direct and contracted, as well as a production line that serves the local market islandwide.
The company is now one of the only spring water companies in the Caribbean that is a member of the International Fine Water Society, the only Jamaica company that is a part of the IBWA (International Bottled Water Association), and has racked up a multitude of accolades for the quality of product it provides.
During a new year message to her team, Williams created a new vision for the company: ‘To advance well-being and longevity globally’.
“We have moved beyond ‘health’ to embrace longevity. Just as how we defined the market for alkaline water, this is a new paradigm in our approach to helping the global community live more life in their years,” she said.
Williams hopes that by emphasising this mission as a team and putting core values into practice, Lifespan can make a meaningful impact on the world, not just in the local community.
“In order to achieve this vision, it is crucial that we all understand the importance of following policies and procedures. Consistency is key to meeting our targets and ensuring a positive outcome for the entire team, our customers and stakeholders. By maintaining high standards and adhering to our established processes, we can continue to deliver exceptional results and make a real difference as a company. Lifespan is in the business of promoting longevity through its product offerings,” Williams added.
A well-defined vision is the basis for all business strategies and decisions, large and small. Without a company vision, a business cannot develop a coherent strategy that leads toward the desired result. Additionally, vision helps to motivate employees.
“I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your hard work and dedication. It is through your efforts that we are able to move closer to our goals. As we move forward into this new year, let us continue to lead consistently and strive to achieve the targets we have set for ourselves. I am confident that, together, we can make 2024 a year of success, happiness, and wellness for all,” Williams expressed.
This year, Lifespan’s theme is centred on promoting longevity through practice. The renowned scientist professor David A Sinclair has proven that reducing sugar and excessive calories in the diet can improve lifespan and quality of life, while also slowing down the ageing process. Water plays a critical role in this process, and sustaining life.
Williams ended her presentation with an encouragement to each team member to start paying attention to health and making conscious decisions about what is consumed.
