Palomino places second in high jump at indoor meet at Vanderbilt
Jamaica’s high jumper Zayne Palomino of Southern Miss University was second in the men’s high jump on Friday during the Vanderbilt Invitational held in Nashville, Tennessee, clearing 2.13m.
Palomino, who was fourth at last year’s JAAA National Senior Championships in Kingston, finished second on count back to American Corvell Todd.
Both men opened at 2.04m and cleared on their first attempt. Palomino cleared the next height 2.09m but Todd passed and both cleared 2.13m then passed at 2.16m before failing at 2.19m.
Palomino set a personal best 2.18m last week, when he placed second at the Vulcan Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, making him the second best Jamaican man behind Romaine Beckford, who cleared 2.19m at the Arkansas Invitational.

Lambert was also fourth in the weight throw with 15.25m.
Her teammate Omari McKenzie won the men’s triple jump with 14.00m after setting his personal best 14.66m a month ago, while Zachery Dillon won the men’s shot put with 15.20m.
