Lord Caesar gets noticed on debut
As
the native-bred three-year-olds continued to prepare for the 2024 Classic season, bay colt
Lord Caesar
added his name to the list of potential contenders with an eye-catching debut win on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Trained by Anthony Nunes, who is a part-owner along with Stephen Narinesingh and Paul Wilson,
Lord Caesar came from behind runners to win a maiden condition race over 5 ½ furlongs by 4 ¾ lengths.
The long-striding runner had a poor start and was in fifth place as they approached the half-mile (800m) turn.
Warriorstomp (Roger Hewitt) led the field into the turn, followed by
First Offense (Tevin Foster),
The
Soul Warrior (Jerome Innis),
Affair (Dane Dawkins), and
Lord Caesar, who had yet to find his full stride.
As he got closer to the leaders,
Lord Caesar started rounding horses, finding another gear in deep stretch, and once he got rolling, laying wonderfully on the outside of runners, he cruised home in 1:09.4 (24.1 x 49.1).
Warriorstomp came in third, with
Affair finishing second.
