Police cut down ‘contract killer’ in St Catherine
A reputed contract killer was among two men who were fatally shot during a gun battle with the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC) in St Catherine on Thursday evening, the police have confirmed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of crime and security, Fitz Bailey told the Jamaica Observer that one of the deceased is a “prolific contract killer” known by his alias “Gang Bang”.
DCP Bailey said Gang Bang’s death resulted from a running gun battle which started in Spanish Town and culminated in Greater Portmore. Following the melee, two 9 millimeter pistols were recovered, he further disclosed.
He said the man has been on the police’s radar for a long time and is known to be involved in the death and burial of siblings, 20-year-old Kerrick Moodie and 22-year-old Keneisha Moodie of Grange Hill, Westmoreland in December last year. They were seen in a viral video being buried in a shallow grave and were reportedly killed over money gained through scamming.
DCP Bailey said Gang Bang was previously arrested and charged during the investigation of gang leader Uchence Wilson, but the case was dismissed by the court. In 2020, Wilson was sentenced to 26 years in prison.
The lawman promised to provide further updates as investigations continue.
