500 New Social Housing Programme units coming during 2024/2025 financial year— PM
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that at least an additional 500 houses will be built under the New Social Housing Programme during the financial year 2024/2025.
“We plan to increase the budget for the New Social Housing Programme under the Indigent Housing Programme this year so that we can get to more Jamaicans. We are targeting to do more in 2024. We are targeting to do a minimum of 500 units under the New Social Housing programme this year in 2024, meaning the 2024/2025 financial year,” Holness stated.
He was speaking at the handing over of a one-bedroom unit to Norma Copper in Lima, Adelphi in St James on Monday morning.
The prime minister was scheduled to hand over another unit to a recipient in John’s Hall in the parish later Monday.
At the first handover, he was accompanied by Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie and Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, in whose St James East Central constituency the unit is situated.
