Trainer Oral Hayden ends 2023 on a high
Oral Hayden, a newly licensed conditioner, finished the 2023 racing season on a strong note, saddling two winners on Saturday’s 10-race card to finish with 15 wins.
Hayden’s winners were Unruly Dude in the opening event and Unruly Boss in the day’s fourth race.
Unruly Dude‘s victory was in a bred four-year-old and up (non-winners of four) and imported four-year-old and up (non-winners of three) at over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).
Ridden by Javaniel Patterson, Unruly Dude came from behind runners to beat Traditional Lady (Matthew Bennett) and Whisky (Tevin Foster) by three parts of a length in a time of 1:073.
Unruly Boss, ridden by Phillip Parchment, made one move to win the three-year-old and upward Claiming ($1m-$800,000) race going five furlongs (1,000m) straight. Unruly Boss won by 4 ½ lengths ahead of Little Grovy Thing (Matthew Bennett) and Exotic Light (Chris Mamdeen) in a time of 59.0 (23.1 x 46).
Hayden is also the owner of both Unruly Dude and Unruly Boss and both were also groomed by St Patrick Shaw.
