Waterhouse move up in Wray and Nephew JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Former champions Waterhouse moved up to a play-off spot after beating struggling Harbour View 2-1 in their Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League first round game played at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Kingston on Wednesday.
Waterhouse’s fifth win snapped a two-game winless run which saw them moving into sixth place in the points tables on 19 points— one point more than Cavalier SC who have three games in hand.
Harbour View have won just once so far this season and are in 11th place on nine points from 11 games, two points above the relegation zone.
Andre Fletcher scored in the 42nd minute as Waterhouse led 1-0 at half time.
Chidalu Chukwuemeka drew Harbour View level in the 49th minute but Javane Bryan restored Waterhouse’s lead when he scored the winner in the 59th minute.
Meanwhile, Montego Bay United (MBU) came from a goal down at half time to beat Tivoli Gardens 2-1, ending their seven-game unbeaten run.
Odean Pennycooke scored in the 41st minute to give Tivoli Gardens the lead but MBU’S second half substitute, Ahmal Nugent Hudson, scored his first goal of the season in the 59th minute to level the score.
Brian Brown then headed home a cross from Shaquille West in the 70th minute to secure the team’s second win away from home this season, and the first victory against Tivoli since 2018.
