Gin ‘N’ Juice scores with patrons, promoter
The Ruins at The University of the West Indies, Mona campus, was jam-packed on December 23 as patrons partied the night away at the last staging of the retro party Gin ‘N’ Juice.
Themed ‘Ladies Night’, the females came out in their numbers and were seductively attired in shorts, miniskirts and tight dresses.
A ‘ladies only’ cocktail bar was available at the event to make the female attendees feel extra special. Chocolate and candy were also strategically placed in the women restroom area.
The event attracted both the young and young-at-heart who were eager to be taken on a journey down memory lane.
DJ Timmy from HMV, ZJ Ice, and Richie Ras whipped the crowd into a frenzy during their respective sets, playing hits from the 80s and 90s.
Promoter of the event Gregg Smith was pleased with how the evening unfolded.
“The music was exceptional and the patrons brought their dancing shoes and the DJs surely made them use them! We consistently put on a top-tier event that runs smoothly and delivers even more than what we advertise, so the niche demographic that we cater to knows that we’ll meet their high expectations, so they consistently come out to enjoy themselves with us. This is not only my personal opinion, but rather the feedback we’ve received from many patrons who attended most, if not all, of the events this year”, Smith told the Jamaica Observer.
He explained the decision to host the event on December 23.
“On this occasion we were catering to the large section of our customer base who reside overseas, as they often complain that they miss out on Gin ‘N’ Juice all year, then hear their family and friends back home talk about how amazing it was; so when they miss out again just a couple weeks or days before they return home in December it’s particularly disappointing. This year we changed our date to respond to the high demand from our customers in the Diaspora,” he said.
Smith said that 90s music will continue its dominance as the golden era music and will continue to be a big pull for crowds.
“The 90s era, in particular, has arguably produced more classic songs than any other to which the current crops of songs and artistes have barely put up a resistance to change, so people automatically gravitate towards quality, and in every sector of society, quality has stood the test of time. That being said, Gin ‘N’ Juice will always be pioneers and continue to lead the way by offering innovative packages, unique combination of great DJs who deliver awesome music and in top-class venues,” the promoter added.
The next staging of Gin ‘N’ Juice will be in March 2024, and will be dubbed a ‘Soca Extravaganza’.
