Delomar’s ‘olive branch’ fails to revive RDX reunion at Strictly 2K
Hopes for an RDX reunion were shattered at the latest Strictly 2K event at Mas Camp on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Delomar interrupted former colleague ReniGAD’s set in an attempt to extend an olive branch. However, when Delomar invited ReniGAD to join him in singing their 2007 hit “Dance,” the deejay promptly exited the stage.
ReniGAD refused to sing alongside his former group member, who declared that this was the last time Jamaican audiences would see the duo on stage together.
RDX was not booked to perform at the event.
Observer Online reached out to both deejays following the event. Delomar explained that after being prompted by people backstage to make amends, he decided he would be the “bigger person.”
“Some of the artistes backstage were saying that this is the perfect time to fix things. We have never been at the same event ever since we separated. This is like the first time, ever. They wanted us to try to fix the thing. So I went on the stage and I said alright then fine let me be the bigger man then and dweet then,” Delomar said. “I went out to go and perform with him and him reject it.”
“One of the things that surprised me is that he went on a lot of interviews and said that I was the one causing all of this. However, last night, I wanted to be the bigger man fi say, alright, and even if we’re not friends, we can actually have a working relationship so let me go out there and see if I can squash this and he rejected,” he continued. “Being that him always a seh a me nuh want to do this, me nuh want to do all of them sum ting dere. And I step out now to do it and he rejected.”
But according to deejay ReniGAD, his former group mate’s interruption of his set was not to extend an olive branch but was instead intended to steal his shine.
“He wanted to take some glory, that’s my perspective. And that is the perspective of my team as well. There is nothing there to say it was a peaceful gesture,” said ReniGAD.
“That was not an olive branch. If he wanted to extend an olive branch, he could have extended his olive branch by giving me a call in private. He could have said to me ‘Hey, wah gwaan, we can meet up and have a conversation as man and man.’ That could have been an olive branch. Why olive branch has to be him running on stage when me a perform? That’s not an olive branch. That’s me performing and him wanting to get some glory,” he added.
