Carpenter charged after gun seizure in Grange Hill
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A 27-year-old man is now in police custody after a firearm was allegedly seized from him by an off-duty policeman in Delle Ifle, Grange Hill, Westmoreland on Sunday, December 24.
Charged with possession of a prohibited weapon is Shamori Miller, a carpenter of Godfrey Street, Grange Hill.
Reports from the Grange Hill Police are that about 1:30 am, the lawmen were in the area when Miller and another man were spotted. The actions of the men aroused the suspicion of the police who went to investigate. While the policeman was in the process of accosting them, one of the men escaped while Miller was caught and searched. During the search, one 9mm Glock P80 pistol was found in his possession.
He was taken into custody, and subsequently charged after he underwent a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. His court date has not been finalised.
