Competitive-looking two-year-old race
A field of seven juveniles is down to contest the $1.01-million Little Ascot OTB Trophy, a native-bred two-year-old maiden special weight event over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.
The analysis of each runner is below.
1. THE SOUL WARRIOR: ( 2 gr/rn c by Storm Craft – Amanda Panda) – Not yet ready for a winning run.
2. SHERIFF IN TOWN: (2 ch c by Sensational Slam – Antoinette) – Nicely-bred runner who makes his debut here. Sheriff in Town has been working well for this race and should run accordingly.
3. GO WEST MAN: (2 b c by Western Warrior – Uncle Tammy) – Going to need the run.
4. BUZZ MARIE: (2 ch f by Buzz Nightmare – Free Marie) – Showed nothing on debut on December 10 over four furlongs. Buzz Marie finished in eighth place behind Oh So Smart. Little or no improvement is expected from Buzz Marie here.
5. FIRST OFFENCE: (2 b c by Conquest Cherimash – Official Report) – Well-bred first-timer who is surely going to run well. First Offence has been showing sign of ability in his morning spins and is going make his presence felt here.
6. BROWNIE BROWN: (2 ch f by Shakleville – Alienate) – Finished second by 4 lengths behind Oh So Smart over four furlongs on December 10. With the run under her grit, Brownie Brown could go one better.
7. WORLD SURPRISE: (2 b c by Sunshine N Shadow – Eighteen Karat) – Scratched on his intended debut on December 17. World Surprise bolted before the start of the Miss Ruth Trophy and the fact that he has returned this quickly says a lot about his fitness. World Surprise could return with a bang.
