Only Alpha ready for Sting
Dancehall artiste Only Alpha is looking forward to making his début on this year’s Sting, which returns to its Jamworld home in Waterford, St Catherine.
“This is going to be a big night for me, I am looking forward to this event because of the history of Sting and the opportunity to show what I can do in front of a big crowd, and to showcase what dancehall is all about,” Only Alpha said.
The young deejay is already making major noise with his latest release, Dark Page, which has been bombing the radio waves into submission and sparking interest on social media networks such as Tik Tok.
“So far I have had mainly positive reviews, I have performed this song many times over several weeks and the reception has been exceptional. The inspiration behind the song is my efforts in trying to make a change within myself, but it doesn’t usually happen when or how we want it,” the artiste, whose real name is Alpha Beckford, said.
The single, Dark Page was released on WKDL Records on September 1, 2023.
Only Alpha’s follow-up singles include the high energy Weed and Grabba.
“We shot the video last week for Weed and Grabba and we’re gonna release that soon,” he said.
He grew up in Palmer’s Cross, May Pen, Clarendon, where he attended Central High School.
The artiste’s family boasts some musical pedigree as his father, Lascelles Beckford, played guitar on sessions for the late great Bob Marley.
