Amber targets China
THE Amber Group has set its sight on the Chinese market with plans to enter the world’s second-largest economy in early 2024 with its Amber Connect vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions.
Dushyant Savadia, chairman and CEO of the Amber Group, told the Jamaica Observer that the push into China is part of an overall growth strategy the company is formulating in the new year. It includes a recent push into the Middle East and a renewed focus on Europe.
“We are going into China next year,” Savadia told the Caribbean Business Report in a recent interview. He said the company has entered a strategic partnership with a key distributor to enter China. The Amber Connect product is expected to be officially launched in China on February 2, but the product is to be available from January.
“This expansion is poised to introduce Amber Connect’s state-of-the-art technology to the dynamic Chinese market. The company aims to add over one million customers in the coming year, solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the global vehicle telematics sector,” he added. Overall, he said the partnership will expose Amber Connect to 6 million vehicles globally.
Savadia pointed out that while the Chinese market has a lot of hardware producers, there is an avenue for companies like his to enter the software business.
“Africa and the Americas are the two largest markets for us at the moment and then there is the Caribbean. But now with Europe and Middle Eastern focus and focus into China is actually becoming our larger expansion plan for 2024,” Savadia continued. He said the three markets combined could account for half of Amber Connect’s business worldwide.
“I think the potential is so very high with millions of vehicles accessible to us for our products and services. So I think 2024 should be one of the greatest year for Amber Connect with the new partnerships we have launched in China, the Middle East and Europe.”
“Globally, we’ve expanded into nearly 100 countries, with some very futuristic solutions with artificial intelligence built in for consumer and fleet vehicle tracking and fleet telematics as well. We recently launched AI-based dashcams.”
The company recently set up offices in the United Arab Emirates to push its expansion in the Middle East to target the 19 nations which make up the Gulf Cooperation.
“It’s also one of the fastest-growing emerging markets in the world. The financial movement in that region, the hunger for technology, the need for all kinds of sophisticated technology, is so high that side of the world, so hence we choose for 2024 to put a lot of focus on the Middle Eastern market for the growth of Amber Connect.”
Savadia said Amber Connect has seen strong growth since its launch in 2015 and is one of the most sought after software in the world, especially now with its AI based features that work for consumer vehicle tracking or fleet management solutions.
“This has been the most amazing year of Amber Connect in all its eight years of history. We have broken all our internal records for this year. It has been a highly successful year for Amber Connect and the whole group. The whole group has had a bumper year this year,” he posited.
The Amber Group was started in 2015 with Amber Connect. From there it entered into the payments business and has also ventured into aviation, software development services, cybersecurity, and recently into media. Savadian said the group will launch almost 50 digital radio stations at the same time early in the new year.
The group is solely owned by Savadia, but he said he could take the company public sometime around 2027/28.
