Women inspiring action, transforming lives
THE Kingston Club of Soroptimist International Jamaica (SIJK) honoured a number of outstanding women at its recent Charter Anniversary & Stella Gregory Awards Ceremony. Also in the photo is Dr Heather Ricketts who was guest speaker at the event. Dr Ricketts is the first female to be appointed dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at The University of the West Indies, Mona.
The Stella Gregory Award is presented annually to an outstanding woman who has excelled in her chosen field and has contributed to national development. Dempster Chung was recognised for her outstanding and pioneering leadership of Kingston Creative, an NGO that uses art to achieve social and economic transformation in downtown Kingston.
The Grace Allen Young Award is given each year to a female health professional who epitomises the core value of integrity.
