St Elizabeth farmer accused of chopping man to death
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – A 65-year-old farmer has been charged following the chopping death of another man in New Building, St Elizabeth on Saturday.
Charged with murder is Joselyn Boyne otherwise called “Blacks”, a resident of New Building.
The deceased has been identified as Everton Powell, 54, otherwise called “Zekes”.
A police report said on December 9, Powell went to Boyne’s home and called him outside.
Police said Boyne opened his back door and Powell allegedly used a machete to chop him on his right hand. A tussle reportedly ensued during which Boyne chopped Powell several times to the head and upper body.
Powell was taken to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The accused was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
Last week, St Elizabeth recorded six murders within 48 hours.
