Applying for a boarding foil in lieu of legal permanent resident card
IF you are a legal permanent resident (LPR) of the United States and your “green card” is lost, stolen, or expired, you may apply at the US Embassy in Kingston for a boarding foil for return travel. You will need to show you have been outside of the United States for less than one year.
To apply, first go to our website https://jm.usembassy.gov/.
Scroll down to the part where it says “I Need…A US Visa” and click there:
Next, click on “Visa Navigator Page:”
Click through the different screens until you see the service you need and what code to use to email us. If you do not use a code we won’t receive your email!
To apply for an LPR boarding foil these are the instructions you will see via the Visa Navigator:
Legal permanent residents with a lost, stolen or expired green card who have been outside of the United States for less than one year must apply for a boarding foil from the US Embassy. Boarding foils are good for one entry to the United States within 30 days of application. To apply for a boarding foil, complete an I-131A form and pay the boarding foil fee at https://www.uscis.gov/i-131a before emailing us to request an appointment using the following instructions:

• Use this subject line: P11 – BOARDING FOIL APPOINTMENT – [INSERT YOUR FULL NAME]
• Full name
• Date of birth
• Passport number
• Contact phone number
• If available, a copy of your green card
• 9-digit A number
• Date of last departure
• An attachment of your form I-131a and the payment receipt.
If your green card has been lost or stolen, visit www.uscis.gov for instructions on applying for a replacement.
If your green card is going to expire before you are able to return to the US or has already expired, that does not mean you are out of status.
