Cavalier beat Mt Pleasant in Wray and Nephew JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Defending champions Mt Pleasant FA lost for the first time in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League after giving up a 1-0 lead to lose to 10-man Cavalier SC, in a replay of last season’s final at Sabina Park on Monday.
Cavalier SC scored twice in the last 17 minutes of the game to overturn a deficit after defender Jeovanni Laing was ejected in the 58th minute following a second yellow card in the game.
Despite the loss, Mt Pleasant FA, who are winless in their last two games, still lead the tables with 19 points, four more than second-placed Arnett Gardens, while Cavalier SC moved up to sixth place with 11 points.
Romeo Guthrie gave Mt Pleasant the lead in the 49th minute, but Shaniel Thomas drew Cavalier SC level when he scored from a penalty in the 73rd minute before Jalmaro Calvin scored the winner in the 82nd minute.
Meanwhile, Shaquiil Bradford scored twice in the second half as Harbour View came from two goals down to earn a draw against Dunbeholden United, who ended the game with nine men.
Molynes United lead 2-0 with goals from Jermy Nelson, who converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute before Jason Wright doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute.
Bradford, who also missed a penalty, scored for Harbour View in the 60th minute and five minutes into time added to earn winless Harbour View a point.
